Nothing said here can really convey the experience the Avon community shared last night as everyone gathered to help and to celebrate two outstanding men, Dave Whitney and Justin Mutusak. We are very grateful to have been a small part of this event.
A capacity crowd gathered at the Avon Inn to share the evening with Dave and Justin. The Avon Inn hosted the event and did a tremendous job. We are not going to single out organizers and contributors because there were many and we would certainly leave someone out. Thanks go to all of the volunteers, organizers, and contributors.
Events like this show the spirit of a community and Avon has a generous and graceful spirit.
Pictures are posted.
Please join us February 11th in Geneseo to benefit the Teresa House.
January 3, 2012
2011 finished strong with 3 parties in December. First, we played for Coast Professional at their holiday party. Thanks to Krista at Coast for organizing this event
and for all the folks at Valley Oak Event Center for making it work. Also, thanks to Mike O’Brien for Running sound while Durf
finished his recovery from surgery. Next we played a going away party at Salmon Creek for a young man headed off to serve
his country. We truly enjoy these events and seeing communities come together to support their young people heading off to serve. Thanks so much to Kim for organizing the event and for letting us be part of it. We were joined by Russ Flint on vocals and
guitar. Russ does a great job and we had a lot of fun playing with him. We were also joined by several impromptu backup
singers! We capped off the year on a high note with a hugely successful party at the Nines! Craig and his crew put together
a great evening and boy did people come out to bring in the New Year with a bang. There was great audience participation, highlighted
by Lieutenant Jake joining us on guitar for “Brown Eyed Girl.” Jake, thanks for your service.
Well, another year
is in the books and we're having as much fun as ever, although the equipment seems to have gained weight over the years. It
never gets boring getting a bunch of friends together and making music for people willing to humor us and listen to it. Our
goal from the beginning has been to play a couple of times a month and we were pretty on target with 24 shows in 2011.
We also have an informal goal of doing 20 - 25% of our shows as community service. We had 5 community service engagements
this past year, which puts us in the ball park.
We would like to thank the following people, organizations, and venues
for having us play at their events: The Corning VFW, The Statesman, The Teresa House Benefit, The Valley Oak Event Center, The
Genesee Valley River Dance, Zion Church in Avon, Caledonia’s Fireman’s Family Fun Days, Lovin’ Cup, Marcus’ and Alissa’s Wedding,
The Avon Inn, The Zeglin – Sawczuk Wedding, The Warsaw Kiwanis Club, The Genesee Valley Hunt Ball, The Big Tree Inn, The
Avon Rotary Corn Festival, The BZ Golf Tournament, Livingston County Country Club, The Geneseo Summer Concert Series, Avon
Saturday Night Out, Duffy’s, St. Pat's at the Avon Inn, Coast Professional, Salmon Creek Country Club, and The Nines
All
of the BBB family got involved at various times this year. We also got to play two joint engagements with The Sam Pallet Band
from Corning. That was a first (and second) for us. Some guest performers and sound engineers this year included Russ
Flint, Mike O’Brien, Kate Phillips, Conrad Phillips, Seamus Donegan, Justin Matusak, Madison, and Jake, as well as a number of
partiers who came up and helped us with background vocals and stage fun during the shows.
Best wishes for a Happy New Year !!
John,
Paul, Tim, Gerry, Dan, Elaina, Dave, Durf, Steve, Beth, Bill, and Don of Bob's Brother's Band
On to 2012!
